Cajun Night After Christmas
Published in Hardcover by Pelican Pub Co (October, 2000)
Average review score:

A Great BookAfter reading the Cajun Night Before Christmas to children for many years and anticipating the release of this book, I was very impressed with the work of the authors. As usual, James Rice did an excellent job of illustrating. I am always impressed by his drawings, especially with the expressions of the characters. It was a great follow up to the Cajun Night Before christmas. I have added it to my vast collection of the original Night Before Christmas books and its variations. After I master the dialect and get the words to flow, I will probably be reading this book to kids for years to come. Thanks, Jenny, Amy and James

Good discussion questions and exercises for cinema class...I found this book to be helpful in facilitating class discussions, which in turn led to a greater understanding of the films we discussed.

The Cold War: Collapse of Communism (History's Great Defeats)
Published in Hardcover by Lucent Books (March, 2000)
Average review score:

Succint and important summary. Some people believed the Cold War started in 1917 while others thought it began in 1945 after the Yalta Conference between Roosevelt, Churchill, and Stalin. It went through the Korean War (1950-53), the Cuban missile crisis in 1962, the Vietnam war followed by a detente during which the Soviet Union and the USA negotiated arms-control. It turned cold again when the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan in 1979 and finally ended in 1989 with the fall of the Berlin wall and the eventual collapse of the Soviet Union.
The causes of the collapse are multiple and include: the arms race, the meltdown of the Soviet economy, the rise of ethnic nationalism in the Soviet Union, and governmental reforms (perestoika and glasnost). But in the end, it was the "insane" arms-race, which led to fiscal insolvency and collapse of the Soviet Union.
This is a short (105 pages) summary of the Cold War intended for readers who are interested in understanding the basics of the problem.

Cottage Garden Flowers
Published in Paperback by Capital Books Inc (July, 2001)
Average review score:

LovelyI borrowed this book from the library and would love a copy of it. Reading this book is like sitting with a favourite Aunt discussing gardening. Her descriptions of flowers are at times hilarious and always filled with useful information. She lists a lot of the "old" flowers. The ones to watch for and beg from any gardener who might be willing to part with them.

Cross-Stitch from a Country Garden
Published in Hardcover by Sedgewood Pr (December, 1988)
Average review score:

Not all garden. Not all patterns in this book are flowers, there are also woodland animals, lovely wedding pictures/samplers and many large projects that will require some endurance to finish. Afghans, pillows, and smaller items like fruits and vegetables for jar covers and ornaments. If you like nature this is a great pattern book to own. One can easily take out single items from the large patterns to embellish towels or bags. A nice book, typically with the patterns in a small print that will have to be enlarged for easier stitching.
